Showcase : Case Studies : Newport on the Levee
Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky is an outdoor lifestyle mall on the shore of the Ohio River directly across from Cincinnati. An eclectic mix of stores, offices and a multi-screen movie theater make the site a destination for the entire area. The owners of the mall wanted to refresh their Christmas decorations as well as entice people to come visit form across the river in Cincinnati.
Christmas Decor of Northern Kentucky teamed up with Animated Lighting to refurbish the old Christmas tree and decorations and use nothing but the latest generation LED technology for the lights. New design pieces were added to make the area truly unique. Important to the tenants was to make the decorations dance and get the customers talking so they would return with their friends.
Trees down the center court were wrapped with different colored strings of LEDs and connected to wireless receivers tied into the Animated Lighting data network that connected everything on-site. Design pieces were added to many storefronts and everything, including center court Christmas tree was animated to dance with the music. Animated Lighting wrote all the custom light sequences and tied the music into the house sound system.
This is Newport on the Levee during the summer months.
The Christmas installation crews began work in November. This is a giant multi-color wreath controlled by a wireless receiver tied into the Animated Lighting data network linking all the light displays in the outdoor mall.
Notice the wreath lit with red LEDs above the store.
The same wreath is now lit with blue LEDs and controlled via the wireless Animated Lighting data network.
Custom design pieces were created for this unique venue. The green snowflakes were lit with LEDs and appeared to spin at night. The 20-foot-tall zig-zag tree had multiple colors and each stripe was independent.
The shopping center's owners wanted a taller and more prominent Christmas tree than years past but there was not enough room in the center court for a wider base to support a taller tree. Instead, a giant toy box was created to lift the tree. The tree superstructure is being assembled in this picture. The different rings of the steel frame held the branches with different colored strings of LEDs. Each tree ring had three colors and all rings were connected to the Animated Lighting wireless data network.
The tree is having the branches "fluffed" and the tree topper is in place.
Finally, a giant garland is being draped around the center court tree.
